A poem by Dolly Burns

My love is like a butterfly
That’s newly sprung in June
When multicolored moods of love are
Sweetly played in tune.

It flutters on soft wings in flight
A deeper love that I
Feel when you are with me
Even if all the seas run dry.

What more rare and gentle feeling (I feel inside)
Than rocks melted with the sun
Your kiss is warm and tender
While the sands of life shall run.

Your laughter brings me sunshine
That fares me well, a while!
But I am only happy when you are by my side
So what if it’s ten thousand mile?

My love is like a red, red rose
A rare and gentle thing.

Hurrah!

  1. A warm breath, colorful wings
    A sense of summer
    Taste my tongue
    Hold my hand, look beyond
